Doing pork butt, mac n cheese, and a few other things for my son's birthday party Saturday. I am looking for an awesome (from scratch, or close to it) baked beans recipe, preferably with some sort of bacon or sausage in it.
Thanks,
Chris

I have made these numerous times for different crowds and am always told they were the best baked beans they ever had. I have made them with both Stubbs and Sweet Baby Rays, feel free to sub your favorite rub too and they are awesome. After you put combine the recipe smoke them at 250 for an hour or so indirect with Pecan and cherry chunks. I sometimes add pork butt to them as well.
28oz Bush’s Baked Beans
15oz Black Beans
15oz Pinto Beans
1 cup Brown Sugar
1tbs Worcestershire Sauce
1tbs Apple Cider Vinegar
1tbs Minced Garlic
1/4 cup Honey
1/4 cup Stubbs BBQ Sauce
2 tbs Fat Boys Cajun Rub
1/2 cup Ketchup
2 tbs Yellow Mustard

The first time I had these beans at a friend's house, I put him in a head lock until he agreed to give me the recipe. It starts with cooked pinto beans not canned baked beans from a company. So, it's essentially from scratch. And with 2 pounds of bacon and a bottle of beer, it won't go wrong.
Don
1 TBS Butter (for dish)
2 TBS vegetable oil
2 cloves garlic - minced
2 red onions - diced
2 pounds bacon - diced
4-6 jalapeños- seeded and minced
2 red bell peppers - diced
1 bottle beer
1 cup BBQ sauce (sweet style)
1 cup brown sugar
¼ cup molasses
4 cups cooked pinto beans - drained. Pre-cooked is OK.
Kosher salt to tastePreheat oven to 375 degrees.
Grease/butter 13 x 9 casserole dish and set asideCook bacon. Freeze. Then chop/dice. Some use a food processor. Set aside.
Heat oil in large sauté pan.
Sauté garlic and onions until they soften. Add the chopped bacon, jalepenos, bell peppers.
Continue sauteing and stir until peppers are cooked. In a large bowl, combine beer, BBQ sauce, brown sugar and molasses. Mix well.
Add beans and mix.
Add bacon mixture and mix.Salt to taste. May not need it.
Transfer to casserole dish. Or individual dishes.
Cook for 45 minutes. Or until brown and bubbling on top.

Not real homemade if you looking to sort and soak your own means but this is really really good beans. When I make it with brisket I put the pan on the egg under the brisket to get some beef drippings to add some more flavor.

Let me try it again. Not sure why it added the namespace prefix stuff:

1 Pound peppered bacon cut into 3/4” strips cook until done but not crispy
drain bacon and save part of the bacon fat to saulte onion and garlic

2 cloves of garlic chopped
(I use chopped garlic in a jar )
2 15 oz cans pork and beans
2 15 oz cans red kidney beans drained and rinsed
2 15 oz cans great white northern beans drained and rinsed
1/3 cup BBQ sauce (yours to choose)
1/3 cup ketchup
2 Tbl molasses
1/3 cup white sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 Tbl yellow mustard
32 oz beef brothMix all ingredients into cast iron pot. Bring to a low boil on ion BGE about 350 degrees.
Stir frequently. Simmer 40-45 minutes indirect heat. Can also be cooked in the oven same temp and same time I have also done on stove top at med-med hi heat
Season to taste. These beans are
a meal in themselves! They are also great with eggs for breakfast or a side for ribs, hamburgers,
or steak! You can adjust the flavor with the mustard and molasses if it taste like it got to much mustard add more molasses or BBQ sauce
